PICTURE OF OF THE WEEK – MUDBRICKS

How long can bricks made of mud and straw last? A long, long time. This brick is from a structure in the Temple of Karnak which was built thousand of years go. The dry climate and little rain helped to preserve it.

Today mudbricks are still made and used for construction, especially in the country side.  But will they last as long – we won’t find out unless we believe in the afterlife!
