RAMSES II CONFIRMED HIS POWER WITH  REPLICAS OF HIMSELF – AND HIS  STATUS CAN BE FOUND ALL OVER EGYPT STILL TODAY.  BUT IN ABU SIMBEL HIS POWER WAS MULTIPLIED BY FOUR. IT CAN’T HAVE HURT HIS EGO, BUT THESE COLOSSAL FIGURES IN FRONT OF THE TEMPLE, HAD AN ADDITIONAL PURPOSE – THEY SHOWED HIS NEIGHBORS SOUTH OF THE BORDER – IN NUBIA – WHO WAS IN CHARGE.
